Since the beginning of #javawithJimmy, we’ve worked to make sure that the community had the most accurate and up-to-date information on the Corona Virus / COVID-19. By bringing the local medical experts into the #javaCafe, we kept the community informed, though it was often a challenge to schedule them, we got it done. We kept our commitment through a relationship with a #javaFam and community leader, Cindy Diggs.
In the fall of 2019, Cindy was as working at an event in Nubian Square, sponsored by Mass General Hospital, and introduced me to Dr. Joseph Betancourt, VP of Equity and Community Health, and we agreed to talk about the platform. Over the next few months, while we were still learning about COVID-19 and need to stay aware of the updates on the vaccination, Dr. Betancourt, Cindy, and I met and began to discuss how the Office of Equity and Community Health could not only be more intentional about availing their medical staff, but also provide financial assistance to expand the impact of getting the health information out to the community.
After months of meetings and making sure we made the community center to this new planned health segment of #javawithJimmy, today, we launched our first episode. You can view it live at 9:00 AM today.
