The #javaCafe is Going to the Waterfront
Last year, during my breaks from traveling back and forth to Miami and Atlanta, I found myself going to the Seaport District, as I had a slight familiarity with the area. Surprisingly after not visiting for a while, made me feel like I was not in Boston. Some context here, given the type of work I do, the past two years of isolation due to COVID19, issues of race, the economy, etc., my self-care consists of leaving Boston as it seems that’s the only time I really “log off” and relax. Access to water bodies (harbors, waterfronts, rivers, lakes, etc.) is a huge part of self-care, I love walking by it and watching the waves of the sea, or just listening to the water crash against the pier. The Seaport District was my local getaway. As that was my initial thought the first time, I decided to just take a trip down to the Seaport. My second thought was a little distributing.

The fact that being in the Seaport District seemed different and not a part of my local city neighborhoods was my second thought. It bothered me. Everyone in Boston deserves to feel welcome, have access, and take advantage of the over 40 miles of waterfront that Boston has to offer. This was why I became not only excited but personally committed and invested in supporting Waterfront Wellness Week sponsored by the Coalition for a Resilient and Inclusive Waterfront.
As a part of the Waterfront Wellness Week, I’m excited to announce that on Thursday, June 23, 2022, Java With Jimmy on the Waterfront at the ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art / Boston | 25 Harbor Shore Drive, Boston, MA, 02210) will be featured as one of the premier events and the closing event for Waterfront Wellness Week.
We are gathering after work at 5:00 PM to enjoy access to the world-renowned ICA, a DJ Jeff 2 TIMEZ, climaxing with a stellar panel featuring coalition partners, medical and wellness providers, city officials, and local advocates for space equity.
More details are forthcoming, but I wanted to make sure you save the date and register for the event as there is limited seating capacity, so register today to get all the updates.
Oh, and it’s ALL FREE.99, LOL !!!
