Something About the Miami Sunrise … Until Next Time

A quick pictorial review of the magnificent sunrises I was able to capture while in Miami.

In one of my recent posts, I talked about the therapeutic impact of traveling. In the post, one of the things I forgot to mention is my tradition of watching the sunrise on my last day in a city, especially when I was traveling for work. After leaving my last job, I didn’t see as many sunrises. Then the pandemic hit.

During the early part of the pandemic, I would see photographer Thaddeus Miles, and colleague Mark Culliton post pictures of sunrises on their social media pages. Their pictures made me miss my own time watching the sun come up. Thanks to their inspiration, one morning, I got up to venture out and catch the sunrise. It was beautiful and given what we were dealing with, I found that day, as other, relaxing and calming. Watching the hues of light and dark blue, turn to light grey, right before they begin to turn to a fiery red, orange, and yellow is a different experience every time. One sunrise is never the same, especially when you switch locations.

During the summer of 2021, I decided to invest in my mental health and spend some time in Miami. I was a few blocks away from the pier near Biscayne Boulevard in NW Mid-town Miami. The water was a perfect backdrop for some of the sunrises I was able to capture.

Have you ever caught a sunrise?

How did it feel?

Do you plan to catch one soon?
